Q: Why am I charged a "Recycling Fee"?

A: A California statute requires us to assess an electronic waste recycling fee on purchases of certain electronic products that are shipped to or picked up at California addresses. The fee is collected at the point of sale and sent to the State of California in accordance with statutory requirements.

Fees:
Recycling fees are charged on all computer monitors (CRT and LCD), CRT televisions, laptop computers and other CRT-based devices. Fees range from $6 to $10 depending on screen size (measured diagonally).

Q: How to order recovery CD for HP dc5700, dc7700 series desktop or other ncXXXX series notebook systems?

A: HP does not include recovery CDs with new models but includes a program called Backup & Restore Program which allows you to create your own recovery CDs.  However, if your system has already crashed and unable to "burn" the CD because the system does not have CD/DVD burners, you can call HP at (800) 952-7689 to place an order free of charge (shipping charge may be added separately).

Q: How do I locate my mail foders, messages and address book for my Outlook Express program?

A: Here's how to find your old messages and mail folders:

  1. Create a new folder on the desktop. Name it "OEMail."
  2. Click Start and then Search.
  3. Select All files and folders in the box that asks what you want to search for.
  4. Type ".dbx" in the field that asks for all or part of the file name. This is the extension for your mailbox files.
  5. Click More Advanced Options and select Search hidden files and folders.
  6. Click Search.

    Once you locate *.dbx (mailbox) files, copy them to the new folder (OEMAIL) that you have created in step #1 above and import the mail folders into Outlook Express using Import function under File menu.
